The car is a 300SD, an '83 (a turbo). It is in pieces in my garage, and I want to fix it for my father in law (it has been a work in progress for him for 15 months -- now, I just want it done).

As for my 601, I took it apart first because there was a tiny oil leak where the front cover, the block and the head meet. I could have left it alone for miles, but I took it apart to get rid of the tiny leak. As I was cheap, I did not use MB's sealant for the front cover and it leaked. So.....I took it apart again this time assembling the front cover with MB's sealant.

Anyway, it is now about 150kmi later and the leak has not returned. It is generally free of any leaks, and even the AC works -- although i am not gonna add my post or $.02 to the recent AC debates (although I have some qualifications -- ME degree with a focus on thermo and cycles, a 609 cert and experience with R-12, R-134a, Duracool and GG's R406 product).
