If you do a search on this subject in this forum you will get a weekend's worth of reading, and LOT'S of different opinions. Personally, in my W124 '92 300TE 4Matic, (@138,000), I use 20w-50w Valvoline Dino oil in the summer, and in the winter I go a bit thinner with 10w-40w, and I change both the oil and filter every 3500 - 4000 miles.
