Boy howdy does this ever work !
.
I sent a message to greazer and am hoping he'll get some new springs in , so far no reply .
I took my old OFV apart for a look see and was surprised to discover the spring was worn paper thin on one side about 1/2 down it , the ball bearing check valve was worn deeply into the end of the spring , bell mouthing it ~ I could easily blow through it and I knew this wasn't good so I rustled up a good used OFV , took it apart for cleaning and inspection , did a questionable thing by following the FSM (message # 113 in this thread) and stretched it a little bit , being *very* careful to stretch it
evenly , not just yanking one ends coils....
It now has a wonderfully delicate throttle response at any speed over 2,000 RPM .
I have no illusions about the 30 + year old spring I stretched and am looking forward to junking that as soon as new springs are again available .
DO THIS ! my old engine is no ball of fire but this woke it right the heck up .
