Striking resemblance IMO.
A full row of large glass windows down each side, from the bow 2/3 of the way aft, down close to the waterline? And what looks like a row of portholes, even closer to the waterline? I'm guesssing ability to weather a storm or seaway, watertight integrity, and ease of maintenance weren't high on the list of priorities.
And that metal-sheathed knife bow? That just screams "maintenance nightmare", as far as a boat or ship is concerned.
This thing wasn't designed to go to sea - it was designed to sit in harbor and impress lookers-on, a rich guy's idea of a floating beachfront mansion.

From the link: "4th - At 0752 hours when entering the Loch at 13 Knots NELSON, when in position 5.4 cables 38 degrees from Rudha nan Sasan triangulation station, passed over and detonated a type TMB magnetic mine; although the massive explosion did not kill anyone 73 were injured, of whom 52 suffered lacerating injuries to delicate parts of their anatomies when ceramic toilet pans shattered in the blast.
