I had the same problem with our 80 240D, nut had loosened up and the Yoke was working back and forth. pulled another Yoke off my spare Iron box 4-spd, and used the nut from that trans to the one in the car. then the staked part was about 180 from where the original nut was.
You will need a special socket with 4 pins that lock into the nut to remove/replace it.
I had read where the auto trans Yokes were the same and would swap over. seems they are. but you will need one with gthe same size fingers (the tri piece). the gassers use a larger Flex Disk.
