I can't fathom the "more is always better" concept... why not go for 7, 8, or 9 speeds?
The main flaw with the 4-speeds is lack of overdrive; the 5th gear fixes that (assuming you get the proper tranny with overdrive 5th gear). I guess all the folks salivating over manual trannies haven't spent much time in stop & go traffic or gridlock. I'd much rather have a 722.6 5-speed auto with overdrive (with lockup converter for the hypermilers), but, to each his own...
