If you're looking for a low mileage Southern/Western rust free version of the classic diesel W116 with the 5 cylinder OM617 turbodiesel you've found it. I'm the third owner and have the records of the original owner through 2004/5. Originally sold in North Carolina and brought to Colorado shortly before I bought it 4 yrs ago. It's in excellent condition and I'm reluctantly parting with it since it was my wife's car. Despite her previous love of a Mercedes 123 diesel, she thought the W116 made her look like an old real estate agent so wanted something different. I got her a favorite, a Landcruiser for her birthday, so this 300SD is now available. It's got 122k original miles. I've replaced the shocks, alternator, glow plugs and hood pad since I've owned it. I also added a lower radiator hose heater. It will start down to 0 degrees or lower but I like to treat my diesel with respect and give them a little warmth in very cold weather. The original servo was replaced with an aluminumed bodied version by the original owner. All vacuum devices work correctly. Climate control, including AC work fine. Cruise worked the last time I checked it but MB cruise controls in the 80's were not very reliable. There are a couple of things that could use attention. The pinstrip down either side of the body is deteriorated and should be replaced. The MB Tex over the metal right side cover of the driver's seat is loose and there is a small hole in the back side of this same piece of MB Tex. There is a small indication of rust on the back left edge of the sunroof. All these flaws should be visible in the photobucket pictures. I drive an 85 300TD and would replace it with this W116 were it not for the fact that I'm a landlord and need the wagon to carry large items. Its never been run on WVO and will return 24-25mpg city.
