New aux. pump. Now car won't shut off!
Because I run various crap in my tank (veggy oil) I wanted to safeguard and install a large pre-pre filter as I have clogged a couple of the inline filters already (I’ve since perfected my oil processing). So I installed a transparent whole house filter with a 5 micron element. To help with the extra restrictive burden, I installed a small universal electrical fuel pump that comes on when the key is turned to the ignition postion and off accordingly. I tested it out yesterday and all was well until I turned the car off. The pump went off and the car continued to run it was a couple minutes and I hit the manual shutoff. Im not sure how much longer it would have run.
So my suspicions are the elec. pump pressurized the 3 filters and lines and was still feeding the system until it all equalized, but I’m also confused because I just figured (not too familiar with this car yet, only owned it for about 2 months) that there was an electrical solenoid that shuts off the incoming fuel to the IP and would block off even pressurized fuel. Can anyone solve this mystery?
