My 81 240D stick has given 29 mpg city or highway since new. Can't tell much difference between city or highway. I use Redline diesel additive.
Almost no repairs have been needed in 140K miles- the only things replaced were the glow plug relay, water pump and timing chain. The chain bumped up performance at least 2%
