Yes, the banjo bolt on top the spin-on filter where the injector return lines and IP return line connect...you need to take that bolt out and replace it with a solid bolt or plug the bolt with JB weld. Otherwise, the VO will drop down into the diesel filter through the bolt.

What do you mean "if fuel comes back up from the pump"? If you can pump fuel at least to the IP, you should be able to crank until it starts. I don't remember how much I had to prime when I re-routed my lines, but it wasn't too hard to get started again. Definitely check the glow plugs.
