This guy has been trying to sell this car for at least a year and a half. What he does not disclose is the awful rust repair job done to the underside of the car. The rockers and jackpoints look like they are 90% bondo and painted over. And the other work looks like it was done by a real hack mechanic.
And did I mention the seller is a bit of a psycho? Well he is...avoid him and his car if you know what's good for you. He had originally listed it in Hemmings for something like $12K when I first contacted him and looked at it...I told him then he was very optimistic on his price.
Over time the price dropped and he kept calling me, leaving messages on my office answering machine and emailing to see if I was still interested. Finally I emailed him to tell him I thought that unless he set his sights at about $3K for that car he'd have it for a long time...he emailed back "I sold the car for $7500 smart ass".
Well, that was over a year ago - then about 6 months ago the calls and emails started again - I guess he forgot he told me it was sold. So again, I emailed to tell him I wasn't interested and reminded him that he told me it was sold a while back. He claimed it was sold but the guy's bank loan fell through...right. What kind of bank finances a 23 year old car? None I have ever dealt with.
He's some sort of a laser surgeon but had his license to practice pulled by the Commonwealth of Mass I found out when I googled him. He's also a curbstone dealer but the story he tells is his wife's family is in the car business...whatever. He is just a good guy to avoid. The car looks much better in the photos than it does in real life, believe me. Also, the driver seat is trashed but he doesn't mention that nor does he have a photo of it. Another tipoff.
