I will hazard an educated guess based on 124's and my W140. What you are seeing behind the auxilliary fans is not the radiator. That's the condensor for the Air Conditioning system. Look just to the left and right of the hood latch strike. You should see a couple of sets of spring clips. Use a screwdriver and a shop rag to lever them up and out. These hold the radiator in place. Of course you also have to remove the plastic fan shroud. The condensor stays in place. Once you get the radiator out, be sure clean out all the bugs and crud trapped between the condensor and the radiator.
