Nope, just fill up the new filter with fuel, bolt it on tightly, and start cranking to purge the air. A battery charger or second vehicle really helps because all the cranking usually drains the battery. If you're replacing the prefilter, also remember to replace the prefilter O-ring, it leaks very easily.
